HEALTH & WELFARE INQUIRY
uring disaster, Community Chaplains set up a "Comfort Zone" for victims, emergency services personnel and concerned families. This provides a central location for mental health triage, registration for resources and a place to receive and respond to Health & Welfare Inquires.
Health & Welfare Inquiry is a service for concerned families who cannot find loved ones after a disaster. Community Chaplains take, call, research and disseminate information to locate, identify and reunite victims with their families, hopefully alive, but also if they are not. Families and victims appreciate an effective point of contact and the hope it provides for being reunited after disaster.
Community Chaplains offer family mitigation, as well as accompany the dead when recovered to the mortuary, assist families through the identification process and the return of the remains to their loved ones. This assists families and victims, as well as emergency services personnel during disaster.
If a loved one is missing in a current disaster, they are encouraged to register right away.
